Race Recap: Tabitha Miles for Meals Run

The Lincoln Track Club started a new season with a new course for the Tabitha Miles for Meals Run. The race moved from Holmes Lake to a starting line on A Street, just east of 27th Street and near the Lincoln Children’s Zoo’s new entrance. The new course took 10-milers down A to Normal and out toward 56th Street. Runners headed south on 56th to Calvert and followed Calvert to its intersection with the Rock Island Trail. A quick left onto the trail and south again to Old Cheney where runners turned around and followed Rock Island back to A Street and up to the finish line.It was a chilly morning. Good for runners but cold for volunteers and spectators. Cory Logsdon of Omaha won the 10-mile with a time of 55:22, John Cleary took second in 56:07, and Andrew Jacob was third with a 57:30 finish. Mary Noel was the first female finisher with a time of 1:02:23, Anna Dilley was second in 1:04;32, and Shannon Suing took third in 1:04:40. Complete results for the 10-mile race are here.In the 5K, Austin Post took first with a time of 15:54, Kyle Clouston was second in 16:58, and Ryan Duell was third with 17:52. Ashlyn Glann was the first woman with a time of 19:26, Lena Eschiti was second in 23:50, and Renee Gascon was third with a time of 24:21. Complete results for the 5K are here.And this was the first race in the Kids’ Grand Prix series. More than 200 kids finished the 1-mile course—a great start to the season! Easton Zastrow, 12, was the first male finisher with a time of 5:55, and Kathleen Donovan, 11, was the first female with a 6:41 finish. Results for the mile are here. In all, the race raised over $3,700 for Meals on Wheels program.Clarence Osborn, 101, of Lincoln finished the 1-mile race in 19:17, with a little help from his friends. Clarence has been a familiar face at LTC races—as a runner and a volunteer—for more than forty years. In recent years he’s done the Tabitha race in a wheelchair, getting up to walk across the finish line. Clarence died April 5, a week after finishing his last race.
