LTC Gives Back: Lincoln North Star Cross Country
The weekend of November 10–11 saw the Lincoln North Star cross country team join almost four thousand other prep runners at the 12th annual Nike Heartland Cross Country Championships. With the support of the Lincoln Track Club, more than twenty runners voluntarily continued training after the Nebraska State Championship meet. Whether chasing a possible qualifying spot at the National Meet in Portland, Oregon, all the way down to a PR, or just wanting to be competitive and spending time with teammates, all the members of our squad had a great effort on a cold and blustery day at Yankton Trails Park in Sioux Falls. In addition to the racing, the team was able to do a bit of frigid sightseeing, spend some quality road trip time together, and listen to former Iowa prep standout—and now international athlete—Shelby Houlihan speak at the massive pre-race pasta dinner.Special thanks to all who race and support the Lincoln Track Club, which helps with funding to provide opportunities like this for area runners. See you on the roads this winter!LNS cross country team and coaches Matt Musiel, Mitch Bern, and Brian Wandzilak
