New Course for the Lincoln Mile

Lincoln Mile ♦ July 8

♦ First heat starts at 8:00 a.m., starting with the oldest age group ♦ elite heat starts at 10:00 a.m. ♦

Over the years the Lincoln Mile course has varied, but part of it was always run through UNL’s city campus. Well, we are changing it up again with a brand-new course! The start and finish are virtually the same—on 12th Street in front of the Lied Center—but from there the course changes. We are taking advantage of the beautiful Centennial Mall! As you run south on the mall you are on the west side and will run past the Bert and Ernie rocks, Standing Bear, the fun fountains by the Lincoln Children’s Museum, and, of course, a view of the State Capitol the entire way. Once you reach O Street, you will cross over to the east side of the mall and head back to the finish. This should be a fun, fast course with plenty spots for spectator viewing. Centennial Mall is a wonderful spot, with patio seating by the fountains. You can cheer your runner going out and coming back while relaxing in the middle of the mall! This year we will have a weekend of Saucony events!Saturday morning, July 7, at 8:00 a.m., Saucony and the Lincoln Running Co will host the Great American Cleanup Run! We are on a mission with Saucony to keep our community clean so we can all enjoy litter-free running routes!Join us as we PLOG along for the Great American Cleanup Run, where you’ll do good for yourself, the neighborhood, and the planet all at once!
