LTC Distinguished Service Award 2017: Scott Brown

Keeping up with technological advancements must be among the most difficult challenges of living in the age we do. Whether it is personal devices, methods of social media, or simply being aware of the next best thing, individuals struggle to keep up. If it is tough for people, the situation might be even rougher for organizations like the LTC that work off volunteers and still have a large quantity of moving parts to coordinate.A few years ago, the board decided that it needed to update its website and tech presence. Years of patchwork notifications and changes to race information had piled up, and it needed to be straightened out. This Herculean (Steve Jobsian?) task fell to Scott Brown, our resident web guru.Here are a few of the highlights of what Scott has done and continues to do for the Lincoln Track Club.

• Going through each race to see what was outdated and what needed to be added; 500 pages of results, information, and databases to sift through.
• Making sure each race director knew the process for updating information.
• Coordinating each race page to look similar with order of information.
• Redesigning the website with a more modern look. This included considering the various templates and finding servers to deal with the traffic of our website’s busiest days.
• Displaying track club policies and initiatives in a way that interested parties can easily access them.
• Providing a resource for runners to access and learn more about the Lincoln Track Club.
• Being an incredibly positive PR person for LTC as he is responsible for all the emails that come through the website. These questions range from relevant, well thought out, to the opposite of both those.

The Lincoln Track Club Board of Directors would like recognize Scott Brown as a recipient of the 2017 Lincoln Track Club Distinguished Service Award. Thank you, Scott. Please don’t go anywhere because none of us know how to do what you do.
