LTC Distinguished Achievement Award 2017: Hayley Sutter
The Lincoln Track Club is proud to recognize Hayley Sutter as a recipient of its 2017 Distinguished Achievement Award. However, unlike some past award winners, where accomplishments were largely measured by a single year of racing, Hayley is being recognized for her long career and positive impact on the local running community. Before relocating to Boston, Hayley was instrumental in organizing Good Runners, Better People (GRBP). As the philanthropic branch of LRC-Racing, GRBP challenges runners to transcend the quest for fast times by recognizing opportunities to become better citizens. Their work, largely due to Hayley’s tenacity, has helped to inspire runners of all abilities and given some of them a chance to start running by offering them advice and some much needed running gear.Good Runners, Better People is a tremendous organization, but let’s not forget how good of a runner Hayley Sutter really is. She’s been a fixture in local running for over a decade, with dominant performances in more than thirty Lincoln Track Club races. In 2017 Hayley ran her very first full marathon by participating in the Chevron Houston Marathon. And on an extremely warm day, she ran 2:52:32, which earned her a twelfth-place finish among women and the first-place finish in her 25–29 age group division.Another stunning performance was when Hayley doubled last September by running the Nebraska Wesleyan Alumni Cross Country Race and then the very next day, the Buffalo Run. And just running the Buffalo Run wasn’t enough, as she finished as the second-place women’s finisher. She did this same double in 2016, where she came away with the win in both races.Ann Ringlein once said this about Hayley, “Anyone that has run at a high level realizes you can't be on all the time, and I think Hayley has been on more than off most of her career!†The Lincoln Track Club could not agree more, so please help us in congratulating Hayley Sutter as a recipient of its 2017 Distinguished Achievement Award.
