Race Recap: State Farm Run
If there is one thing you can count on, it’s that the weather for the State Farm Run will not be ideal. The 19th Annual State Farm Run was held on Saturday, March 25, under cold and rainy conditions. But that didn’t stop hundreds of runners from helping the LTC kick off its 2017 racing season. The Kids’ Grand Prix got things going with nearly two hundred young people making their way around the 1-mile course.Carter Hohlen, eleven years old of Lincoln, was the first male finisher with an impressive time of 6:28. Not far behind, our first female, also from Lincoln, twelve-year-old Kylie Muma crossed the finish line with a time of 6:58.The 10-mile race got under way at 9:00 a.m. Grant Wintheiser, of Omaha, finished in 50:51. Kaci Lickteig, also of Omaha, was the first female to cross the finish line with a time of 1:02:15. Winners of the 5K were Jay Welp of Waterloo with a time of 15:44 and Erica Doering, of Lincoln, at 19:34.One lucky runner had quite the surprise as she was about to finish the race. Molly Moller was greeted at the finish line with a marriage proposal. Three signs with bright yellow letters saying “Molly Moller†“Will You†“Marry Me†were strategically place just before the finish line. He got down on one knee, presented her with the ring, and needless to say, she said yes. Congratulations to everyone!Click here for complete results of the 1-mile, 5K, and 10-mile races.
