LTC Awards Six with Scholarships for Collegiate Level Competition
The Lincoln Track Club (LTC) awarded six $2,500 scholarships in 2022 to local high school cross country and track and field athletes. The award presentation was held as part of the LTC board meeting on June 12.
This is the 9th consecutive year the LTC has presented these awards.
“As a board, it’s our honor to award scholarships to these outstanding student athletes,” said Ryan Regnier, LTC president. “It is a part of the LTC mission to encourage the sport of running for all different levels of competitors. We are excited these scholarships will be used by the recipients to further their education and opportunity to run at the collegiate level. This is another way to showcase the LTC mission to run, connect and give back to the community.”
The 2022 scholarship recipients are:
• Katherine Tvrdy, Pius X High School: Kat has competed in both cross country and track during her high school career. Kat plans to run track and cross country at South Dakota School of Mines and Technology. She is the daughter of Melissa and Doug Tvrdy.
• Lauren Blehm, Lincoln Southwest High School: Lauren has competed in both cross country and track during her high school career. Lauren plans to run for the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, where she will study exercise and sports science. She is the daughter of Stephanie and Scott Blehm.
• Kinsley Ragland, Lincoln North Star High School: Kinsley has competed in track and field during her high school career. Kinsley plans to compete in track at the University of South Dakota, where she will study secondary education. She is the daughter of Jina and Kurt Ragland.
• Carson Lauterbach, Lincoln Southeast High School: Carson has competed in both track and cross country during his high school career. Carson plans to run cross country and track at Northwest Missouri State, where he will study business administration. He is the son of Tysha and JP Lauterbach.
• Landon Heller, Lincoln Southeast High School: Landon has competed in both track and cross country during his high school career. Landon plans to run cross country and track at Nebraska Wesleyan. He is the son of Suz and Troy Heller.
• Grant Wasserman, Lincoln North Star High School: Grant has competed in both track and cross country during his high school career. Grant plans to run cross country at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and will run track unattached for his first season at UNL, where he will study software engineering. He is the son of Judy and Rod Wasserman.
The LTC established the scholarship program in 2013 to assist area high school cross country and track and field athletes who plan to compete at the next level. Scholarships were first awarded in 2014 to six athletes in the amount of $1,000 each. Beginning in 2015, the amount was increased to $2,500 each for up to six recipients. Since 2014, the LTC has awarded $98,500 in scholarships to 43 athletes.
