Race Recap: Buffalo Run
Buffalo Run 2018 proved great weather produces great times! For the first time in several years our first male runner ran 25 minutes and our first female runner ran in the 29s!Nolan Zimmer has proven what great shape he is in with a 25:50 win of over a minute ahead of second place Colin Morrissey. He is set for a great fall of racing which will be fun to watch! Katie Fitzsimmons was tenth overall in a time of 29:50 – again over a minute ahead of second place Ashlynn Glann. It’s an exciting time with so many new, young post-collegiate runners heading to the roads and showing their speed and endurance! But the nice weather did not produce any top ten times—that is an elusive list that just doesn’t seem to budge. The top ten times are a salty bunch with the men’s tenth time overall being 25:06 and the women’s at 28:46, but with these new young runners and another great day, who knows? Maybe next year! The Buffalo Run is known for the veterans—the runners who come back year after year to run this race and earn that beloved Award Winner T-shirt! Of the 500 runners entered in the Buffalo Run this year, 132 were veterans, meaning they have completed 5 previous Buffalo Runs and about a third of them earned their shirt. Two of those veterans were back, running their 42nd Buffalo Run. That’s right! Mary Wolfe and Tom Becker have run all 42 Buffalo Runs! The rest of you can’t copy that feat, but you can start your own tradition of participating in this great run every year. The Lincoln Running Co. has been the sole sponsor of the Buffalo Run for 42 years. In 1975 when the store was established, the Lincoln Track Club came to us and asked us to sponsor this race. We agreed and had so much fun we have been at it ever since! We appreciate all of you running the Lincoln Track Club events and encourage you to run them all. By entering our very affordable events you are helping us help Lincoln in so many ways—from college scholarships to running tracks at local grade schools, we help out where we can in the tune of $130,000 a year. Please consider running all our events in 2019 and help make Lincoln an even better place to live and run!Complete results are here!
