LTC Announces Lincoln Marathon Course Modifications

The Lincoln Track Club announces a modification to the finish at the 2020 Lincoln Marathon and Half Marathon. This year's race will finish on Ed Weir Track as Husker Athletics is replacing the turf in Memorial Stadium following the Spring Game.Glen Moss, LTC president, said, “UNL Athletics recognizes the importance and impact of this running event to the Lincoln community and offered up the adjacent outdoor track as an alternative finishing venue for 2020. This will be a last opportunity to come see where it all began 42 years ago.”The track was the original finish line for the Lincoln Marathon until 1999, when it was moved to the loop in front of the Coliseum and east of Memorial Stadium. In 2010, the finish line moved to the 50-yard line of Memorial Stadium. The rest of the course remains unchanged and will be USATF certified as a Boston qualifier. The Lincoln Track Club was established in 1975 by an eager group of track enthusiasts as a nonprofit community service organization to promote running throughout the area and provide educational assistance for its runners. For over 40 years the LTC has stayed true to its roots as a nonprofit, all-volunteer organization, and in 2019 gave $237,557 back to the community, including close to $164,000 to the Rebuild the Heartland Fund for flood relief efforts. The LTC is a member club of both the Road Runners Club of America (RRCA) and USA Track and Field.
